I had my hair done at the salon. All over caramle colour with blonde highlights.
The caramle went very ginger on top so I got a lightbrown hairdye to sort it out and left it on for a few mins.
This took away the ginger but covered my blonde highlights.
Is there anythiing I can do to make the blonde lighter again??How to get blonde highlights to show through caramel hair?
Go to a salon. They might be able to strip off the ginger (i had a similar situation and i've got really blonde hair!) and get you back to normal! I had blonde highlights put over the ginger and waited for it to grow out. Whatever you do, don't try anything at home!

well you could get a blonde dye and try redoing the highlights orr just wash ur hair everyday and itll prolly fade away and become lighter and show your highlights again. but maybe you should just go in a salon and ask them for advice if u dont wanna pay so much to redo it at a salon agian.

I just did my hair yesterday and the stylist put on the toner all over my hair after the highlight...?
my question is, does toner change my natural color? coz my root was dark and now it seems like it's lighter now. But I heard people said that toner is only use to get rid of orange from colored hair, not to lighten dark hair. So now I'm confused... can toner really lighten my natural hair? Pls kindly help and explain if you know anything about toner, thanks! This is a new stylist, the one that I had usually put on highlight first, and then color the whole hair. And now this one put on the toner instead of color, but she told me that actually they are the same. Is it true?

Will highlighting cream damage your hair the first time that it is applied?
Me and my cousin are starting a webshow and as part of it, we have to look emo, so we decided we were going to put highlighting cream on our hair, but we're worried it might get damaged. I'm half black and half chinese, and I have dark brown hair. I used to dye it all the time a few years ago but now it's probably been around a year since I've dyed it last, so my hair is nice and undamaged.

I think your hair's a gorgeous colour. The highlights you want look nice but I think that woman has a lighter skin tone than you (and you would need to do something about your eyebrows ;) ).
Anyways with really dark hair I don't think its worth it to do it at home. You'd get much better results if you went to a salon. Trust me, my hair isn't even as dark as yours and its hard for me to go light. It just turns orange unless I go to a salon. My friend said she had done it before. My hair was medium brown before we started. We bought the Frost and Tip at the store. I just wanted highlights, but too much was pulled through the cap, making it look like I just added a few pieces of brown to my blond, instead of the other way around. My sister, who is a sylist, says to wash your hair with powdered Tide laundry detergent to soften the color and then wait at least four weeks to do anything else to your hair or you run the risk of frying it.
You could put Lowlights in it so it will be darker and so you wouldn't be able to see the highlights that u dont like.

the best way to get a true blonde streak in dark hair is to use bleach. dark brown hair is harder to get to a natural looking blonde 'cause when you use bleach on it, it goes through stages. it will turn red, dark orange, light orange, dark yellow, light yellow and eventually pale yellow. the longer you leave it on, the lighter it will get. you can go to a beauty supply store and get a small bottle of 40 volume peroxide and a packet of powder bleach. 40 volume peroxide is best to get dark hair really light 'cause anything under 40 volume will take a super long time to get light enough and still may turn out too yellow. and yellow hair isn't flattering on anyone. once you get home, pour out a small amount of bleach powder into a cup or something and add a small amount of peroxide. mix it up well. if it has the consistency of cake batter, then it's ready to use. any thicker will be too harsh and any thinner won't be strong enough. then apply the mixture to the hair you want blonde and leave it on for a maximum or 45 minutes. after 45 minutes, bleach looses it's potency. then rinse it out and shampoo and condition the bleached part. be sure to condition it well 'cause it will be more dry now. if it's not blonde enough for you, wait a few days and bleach it again, only not as long. good luck!

The Revlon Highlighting Kit did a really good job on my highlights and it's really cheap about 5 to 8 dollars depending where you go but can find almost anywhere. Just be careful and if your not very good at, at home dye than have someone help you. You don't want to end up looking like a cheetah=)

If I were you I would buy a hair weaft, they come in any colour, clip in to the hair like natural hair, are really easy to put in and take out.
Will not damage your natural hair one bit.
you could change your colour to suit your mood then and your outfit.
You can buy enough weaft for around 20quid from eBay, you could even mix and match them, plus they are re-usable.
I have long dark hair and I am too scared of bleaches and hair dyes this is the safest method for me and the hair can also be re-used

Tricky, you want low lights if your hair is black. Opt for deep brown colours, go and see a couple of hair stylists and look at the colour charts - make sure you wear blue when you have your appointments, then you will be able to decide which colour is best!
There's nothing wrong with red streaks in black hair, my partner has that look %26amp; still gets away with all shades of blue clothes.
Pink would be too bright, green wouldn't do, so try to aim for shades of blue or purple.
When I was younger, I dyed my hair a shade called Blue/Black. It made my hair look like Superman's in the comics!
But it WAS cool! Sadly, I'm a bit old for all that stuff now, but good luck with whatever you choose.

On a sunny day, take a mirror outside and stand directly underneath the suns gaze, watch the colors shimmer in your hair, i you see hints of red that means you will need to purchase a product that has specific chemicals for ash hair. Like ash blonde. If not, then just purchase any color with out the word ash in it. I recommend nice and easy, it is a great quality die for a cheap price. I use it when dying my friends hair, i've never used it myself, but it seems to work out pretty good on there hair. I've never put a color on their hair that hasn't turned out, so your results should be perfect.

If you already have the black dye and you don't have any other colors then go ahead and do it all black. Normally when I have a client with 2 diff hair colors I do whats called a filler. If you decide to fill your hair use a nice copper color. They make the best fillers, that way your blond wont fade back through so easily. If you decide to just do the color you might just have to dye it again sooner then you thought. Which if fine black color is a deposit color only and the developer level is either a 10 or a 20 and low enough that it won't cause damage.
Well my best friend is a hair dresser and she said colored hair takes faster than natural hair. so when she did my highlights she had to pick through it all and separate it. but they also say if you are going to go dark fast to take your time and do it shade after shade gradually. if i were you i would try a shade darker than ur natural color and then in one or two months(depending on your hair dye)go another shade darker untill you get your highlights toned down a bit then go all the way! good luck

I doubt that will work. I had highlights a few years ago, and I dyed my hair with an all over hair color, and at first it seemed like the highlights were barely seen. But after a few washes, they came out again. I went to a hair stylist, and she said that because highlights are bleached, the color wouldn't stick to them. So she had to use something called a ';filler'; to ';fill in'; my highlights. I'm not sure if you could get it at a store, but if you go to a hair salon and do it once, you will get rid of your highlights. Hope this helps!

How soon after highlights can I straighten my hair?
I really need to straighten my hair because it gets really frizzy in the humid summers and during rain. Straightening does seem to help. I also get partial highlights to cover gray. I want to dye my hair a warm darker brown and blend it up with a lighter warm brown and add some golden blonde highlights to the top %26amp; the front but I was wondering can I do the blonde separate? Because what I don't want is to use foil to do it all together and lose track of the blonde will worrying about the brown. My hair is VERY strong due to a few of my own beauty secrets ;-) ONCE (I bleached my hair three times in the same day back to back no damage AT ALL!) But I still thought I'd be careful and ask this time.....Is it ok to dye your hair and then highlight some of the top? (Same day like back to back?)?

Sometimes I use different brands of the auburn color, but for the bleaching I always use Revlon Frost and Glow. Hope I helped

Ugh, i can't stand when people call me or others hunn.(*person below) Drives me CRAZY! and go with the dye, because bleach gives you like millions of split ends and it kills your hair.
The dye will always win hands down, because it's adding pigment, whereas the bleach removes pigment.
However, the dye won't always get it as light as you want it. (If you want it really light, like platinum lol) The dye will give you a more natural, softer blonde, and the bleach gives you the raw blonde.
So if you want, you can use the bleach to get your hair light, and the dye to tone it to your liking. :)

to get rid of the thickness, try a haircut that hairstylists sometimes call a ';thinning out';. It's like long layers. don't try to cut your hair short, it will only make it thicker and curlier.
i don't know why you'd wanna dye your hair, but if you do- don't get rid of the black. its really nice. however- brown streaks. auburn highlights. maybe one of those things where you make your hair get lighter towards the bottom.

My hair is just all blonde highlights. Is it possible to dye it one shade of blonde?
I'm tired of going to the salon once or twice a month and sitting there for hours to get my highlights touched up.. it is expensive and takes forever! My highlights are all just different shades of blonde and none of them are very thick. How would my hair dresser go about doing this? Thank you!!! it will prolly cost somewhere between 30-50 dollars for your length of hair but if you cut of like 4-5 inches then it will prolly cost 20-35 dollars
It depends on if you are getting all over highlights, around the face or around the face and on top. (I don't remember the proper names for these sections of the hair)
If you do all over highlights, it could be a couple of hundred dollars.
Oh, and getting them professionally done as opposed to doing it yourself, will not make a difference. Either way, it will damage your hair.

Red-brown highlights will look terrific!
Even getting it done yourself, my mom did it for me and it looks terriffic, like completly natural.
If you want a second color, you could get caramel with it too. =]
