How to undo Highlights in hair?
I just got my hair highlighted today and it came out not what i wanted at all
is there anything at all i can do to at least get it less lighter or even back to my natural colorHow to undo Highlights in hair?
Any reputable hairdresser will fix it for you.
And just beware usually when people try to fix there own hair they make it worse.
Just call them and let them you are not happy with it.
(It doesn't matter if it has been a day or a week. They want you to be happy and they want your return business.)
Ask them tone it down with toner or have them change your highlights to ';lowlights';.

You can't really 'undo' highlights, especially if it is permanent, If it isn't permanent, Try Baking soda and Water....If not, The all you can do is recolor/bleach or let it grow out...
Also, A Toner won't do anything, All it does is take out unwanted tones.
i woudln't take out the highlights just yet, wait for a week or two and then decide whether you want to take them out or not. when i got my highlights in at first it was a bright gold but after a week the excess color wore out and it became a soft brown. so if its because of the color, i would wait
try using some shaders and toners!

I think it looks cool as it is--but if you're looking for something funky you could bleach some streaks through it, or put deep red streaks in it. Those both would look really cool. Colouring hair is usually only recommended after 16 because your hair and follicles are still developing.
Ask the hairdresser to use vegetable colours rather than stronger chemical ones and this will lessen the damage, but contrary to popular belief, colour can actually make hair feel more soft and although not technically improve the condition of it, it won't necessarily make it worse if your hair is good condition anyway.
As it's highlights, it should be ok on your hair, just make sure you use a shampoo and conditioner that will protect the colour of your hair and also invest in an intensive conditioner - use this 1-2 times a week.
Olive oil is a great treatment for hair too! Use it on DRY hair (it cannot be wet at all) and cover your hair in it completely, wrap your hair in an old towel and leave it overnight if possible. The next morning, use shampoo on your hair directly (do not wet your hair) and cover all the strands with the suds (you may need to use more than usual). Then wash out the shampoo and olive oil. Your hair should feel delicious! This is a very cheap an easy way of looking after your hair. Another way is to use egg yolks like conditioner. Your Mum can always make meringues with the egg whites!!!

I've been having my hiar highlighted for the last 3 years, i like it but think its a bit boring, so - for ';winter'; i was thinking about instead of getting 3 blondes throught it getting 2 light browns and 1 blonde - do you think this would look stupid?

Plus without the label ';not tested on animals'; on the product, by law this means that it is tested on animals. Not a happy thought.
If you put pictures up then it would be easier to say. I suggest you ask your hairdresser for two lowlights and one highlight color. The hairdresser will be able to tell you what lowlight colors suit your complexion and which blond will compliment them.

And your hair will be damaged regardless so just condition it a lot and use after conditioner, also if you style use heat protection spray or cream!

The best thing to do with black is actual COLOR. Like pink, blue ... Blonde, red, and all of that will look horrid with a black background. You would do best with some colored streaks. If you HAVE to go with a highlight in your hair, I suppose a dark caramel color would look decent. But very light on it.
I don't know if you are into rock music or if you just have black hair. If you are into rock music then you would probably want to get either purple or red. If you are doing it just to do it then I think a darker brown would look good.

I would suggest going to the salon and having them dye your hair to match your natural color. It will probably be much cheaper than getting highlights. Going back from blonde can be a bit tricky. If you hair is golden blonde and you use a box color that is too cool in tone you could end up with a yucky green mess. If you want your highlights gone for cheap.. go to a drug store and pick out a box color that you really like (normally when buying a box color, the brown shades always take a bit darker than shown) Apply it to your roots for 5 minutes and then pull it through the rest of your hair for 35 minutes. Be sure to shampoo well, towel dry hair, apply conditioner. Leave it for half an hour. Rinse with cool water.
Buy a semi permanent hair dye from the drug store. buy a shade lighter than you would like your hair to be. It washes out in 28 washed but the dye will stain the highlighted parts making then darker and they will blend almost completely with your natural color!! I've had to do this many times!
I'd say just get an at home dye. If you get a semi though they will show back through eventually... getting permanent colours put in isn't good for you hair though and isn't good incase you change tour mind about the colour...
You could go to the salon and get some low lights put in over the blonde maybe....
Be careful though - blonde can be hard to go over - can end up looking a bit green. Good luck.

If you are doing it yourself (not recommended)- put all over color on, process, then rinse. Towel dry or blow dry hair (you can hilight hair damp, its ok, just not soaking wet!) Starting at the back, get your friend to stand behind you, and with the tailcomb, your friend should slide the tail to section off an approx 1 cm thick line of hair. Clip the rectangle section bk together and using the tailcomb,weave in and out the 1cm section. These wil be the highlighted hairs. Place the foil under the bits of hair you've weaved,close to the roots as you can, and using the colour or bleach, paint a layer on, not too thick or it can bleed out the foil! Absolutely. I am a hairstylist, and rather than using typical bleach for your foils, your stylist will use a permanent hair color with 20 volume developer. This will cover the grey, and blend the existing grey without your moving to a single process hair color. I would recommend your stylist to use 3-4 different shades. (light blonde, med blonde, dark blonde, light brown) within your foils. This will give you a fully blended look without a strong root growing in when you need your hair done again. i do this for many of my grey clients that aren't ready for single process color, but yet want their grey blended. If your tell your stylist as I told you, you should have no problem having this done, regardless of your location. Hope this helps. i'm strawberry blonde, and when i got my hair cut in layers, the hair stylist mentioned that light blonde highlights would look good on me.
maybe a more redish color would look good. i wouldnt go with black or anything too dark in brown. a light light blonde would look nice too. anything too dark will look too un-natural... and un-natural looking hair is no longer ';in';.

highlighting and perming hair is already damaging hair. but if you want tips...i always use hot oil a few times before highlighting my hair, so it wont have split ends and damage my hair. if you want it temporary, you might want to dye it back to your normal hair color afterwards or get extensions. hope this helps!

I recently dyed my hair auburn and now I want blonde highlights. The lady at Sally's recommended Beyond the Zone Bleachin kit. It comes with the cap but my sister said it looks better with foil. I've already bought it. I cant go to a pro because I have a new baby and no sitter. so I use Natural Instincts '; warm copper brown'; this is a SEMI permanent color and washes out slowly in 28 shampoos. Then to break up the all over same color I use a highlighter for dark brown hair that adds light red highlights
and I dont use a cap, thats so old school, the one I use has a tiny brush that you add streaks where you want them and only there.

(I think it's Clariol but I'm sure there are a ton of different ones there) What it does is tones the highlights not get rid of them completely. On the bright side it leaves my hair silky and shiny after I do it. I definitely do not recommend a permanent color.
If you just got them wait-hair color sets in and they may fade and darken a little more naturally. If you still want to shave your head after about 2 weeks, try an at home color rinse or color depositing product that is the shade of your natural color. John Frida and L'oreal have great coloring products to try!

okay so as you probably know, i had a medium brown color with blondish highlights in it, i loved it.
then i got hair extensions and they were darker then my normal hair, so i dyed my real hair really dark to match them, so now i have really dark hair and it look's really bad i think.

hopefully it will start to fade. that's REALLY dark! you're pretty though so don't worry too much about your hair :) try to do a deep condition to make it healthier.So i dyed my brown hair with blonde highlight's black with permanate hair dye.?
i think with hair that dark the only way to do it would be going to a salon. they have dyes that can really strip the color off. i think you look gorgeous though the way your hair is now!

Buy a semi permanent, no peroxide product, no ammonia product such as Loving Care by Clairol. It is a shampoo in product that lasts for 6 to 8 shampoos, Meanwhile your hair can recover a bit. Buy a slightly lighter rather than darker shade and test a small section on the highlighted part in an inconspicuous area (for amount of time and to see what the color will be like) before you do the whole head. When they made my hair look like Tony the Tiger years ago, they fixed it by putting on a rinse that they used for people with well water instead of city water. ';Malibu Rinse'; was the name of it. My hair went completely back to the way it was before they highlighted it. Good luck!

If you are doing it yourself (not recommended)- put all over color on, process, then rinse. Towel dry or blow dry hair (you can hilight hair damp, its ok, just not soaking wet!) Dye it back to natural colour? Blonde highlights over brown hair looks awful, get some lowlights in a darker brown, it's what I have and if you dyed it because you're mousy it really looks so much better.

She put some ashy gold blonde strands as subtle highlights around the face, and then put some chocolate and caramel lowlights. I have had nothing but compliments since I got them.
try some nice caramel foils they look nice and natural against black hair and is a great way to ease into something more drastic

I would only color 2 inches of your hairline all around in rich chocolate color. Not highlight but color all the way only 2 or 3 inches. When your hair are down it looks great on Oriental hair and frames the face beautifully!

It's not going to look good. I did this myself one time and my hair was four different colors including GREEN -and you don't want that kind of green hair either. It's the at home bleach that does not work with the salon color system.

It's not going to look good. I did this myself one time and my hair was four different colors including GREEN -and you don't want that kind of green hair either. It's the at home bleach that does not work with the salon color system.

hmm ... well you just eliminated every natural hair color! then try funky colors. i think blue looks good with black, as well as purple, even hot pink would be cool. try your favorite color. you do have to bleach your highlights in your hair and you should tone them with a toner before you dye them the funky color. if you bleach the highlights and they are too yellow or orange, the funky color will not turn out right. say your highlights were really yellow or orange and you wanted your highlights hot pink. over that color of blonde highlight, the pink would turn out orange. same goes for every other color, blue would be green and so on. go to sally beauty and get some wella color charm toner in the ';white lady'; shade. it will make your just bleached highlights platinum blonde. just try to bleach your highlights to a pale, light yellow, like a banana peel or the toner won't work as well. here's some funky colors: http://www.manicpanic.com/classic%20crea鈥?/a>

i have black hair n i like pink... i mean if you dont like crazy colors u kinda ruled out everything. just be warned that if you do a crazy color like pink grean aqua then your gonna have to do your hair every moth if you wash ur hair alot and every other month mif u was it 3-2 times a week you are gonna have to pre bleach it and its probally gonna have to take about 6 hours because thats what it takes for me. my hair is about 3 inch lower then my shoulders and everytime i do it you need to dye it black and then get a cap bleach it and then dye it the color you want. bleach takes about an hour alone

Do you look more energetic and sunny in a yellow or yellow-gold or gray-green one or even brown? (autumn) Or do those colors make you rush for some makeup, even for washing the family car, because you look so sick? Ask your family, too.
There are other companies, such as Beauty for All Seasons, that do color analysis as well. I had the Color Me Beautiful book from the 80's, but just got the one from 2008 recently at Safeway. The newer one has a little more on highlighting hair. Plus, it's always fun to see new pictures.

i think any store would be good. but i like doing it myself cause it turns out better. my friend's sister did it for her, and it look better than mine. and thats when i tried it in the store! so it will be better if you do it yourself cause your the only one who really knows what you want to be done.

i have black hair and wanted to get pink streaks. I tried doing it at home and it was a total disaster!! The bleach didnt bleach the hair evenly and it turned out orange and blotchy. (i used facial hair bleach too, bc it is more sensitive) When i put the pink on, it ended up a horrible orange/pink color and ended up fading and i was left with this blotchy reddish orange. It completely dried out my hair, and in the end wasn't worth the trouble. My hair was damaged and I had to dye my hair again--- which was still wierd for months, bc no hair dye would stick to the bleached parts...If its really worth the hassle...i would go to a salon and have professionals do it.How can I get blue highlights in my black hair?

Spray sme sun-in or any hair lightening product before you go in the sun. Then, go to your salon, and ask them if they can streak your hair blue. Or, you can buy your own DIY blue streaks at the salon, and just streak them yourself. That's what my brother did and it worked perfectly.

yeah, its not that your 13, believe me when i was younger roughly your age i had highlights.
I wouldnt reccoment it as it damages your hair leaving it weakend and more vulnrable to certain things.
Perminent dye:
Perminent dye does last ages and nice but its the most damage you could do to your hair, plus you would have to keep on dying it as the hair grows and the roots will show through after a while which is VERY expensive.
Non perminent:
Its good but still some damage done, and once dyed it wont be the colour it used to be unless you try and make it fade quick or let it grow out.
But i wouldnt reccomend them, if u did dye your hair i would reccomend non perminent as it is less harmful to your hair as it doesnt contain ammonium in it.....

YES, bleaching or highlighting your hair; aka bleaching {just straeks} will always damage your hair.
At school; they teach you to avoid telling the client that highlighting will damage the hair because no person would honestly like to know that doing .. such n such can damage it or cause breakage.
we are taught to say '; it lightens your hair '; or call it '; highlighting or lightening '; sometimes bleach ; but we avoid using that term because we know the avg person knows bleaching isn't healthy.
So yes, it can damage your hair. The more you highlight/bleach your hair, the more it gets damaged.
Also, if the stylist/cosmetologist doing your hair is careless* you can get permanent abrasions to the scalp {scalp damage}.

Though, bleaching the hair, its not like it will make your hair fall out ;] unless its left processing too much; but in most cases that doesn't happen because the person would be smart enough to check your hair ;]

HOME-MADE HIGHLIGHTS - LIGHTEN YOUR HAIR AT HOME
Lighten your hair with lemon juice.
Sun exposure will lighten your hair, although very slowly. The acid in lemon juice can help it happen faster. It won't turn dark hair blonde, but it will lighten your hair slightly.
Put some lemon juice on your hair where you want it lighter and go out in the sun. If you have dark brown hair, it probably won't turn blonde but will give you red/auburn highlights. It seems to work best on people who have dirty blonde or light brown hair.
Use it on dirty hair, rather than freshly washed hair. That way the oils in your hair will protect it from the drying effects of lemon juice.

theres a product called sun-in made for that and it works without the bugs but dont put too much in or it will turn your hair orangy
