Is getting hair highlighted or colored bad for your hair?

Any hair color is damaging, but as long as you use a really good color treated shampoo and conditioner you will be fine.

As far as highlites having to be done with bleach, not true at all, you can get foils with color as well, just as long as you are doing it on virgin hair(not previously colored hair). Getting hair highlighted with bleach does not seriously dry out your hair either, a good hairdresser will do a fine job with color or bleach, the volumes of peroxide able to be used with the color or bleaches vary and yes if you were dark, dark brown colored hair and wanted to go platinum you would be talking about using Bleach with 40 volume peroxide and your hair would be a mess, but for just some nice highlites you will be fine!Is getting hair highlighted or colored bad for your hair?
In my experience, coloring your hair damages it a little but highlighting it just kills it. You can try hair mascaras or ';Fanciful'; temporary color if you want to try something new without damaging you hair.Is getting hair highlighted or colored bad for your hair?
its VERY bad for your hair!
Anything that involves bleaching, coloring, dyeing, or heating your hair causes damage.

The only exception to this that I know of is pure henna, and that is because it is a stain that does not actually penetrate into the hair.

Lots of women have complimented me on my hair being in remarkably good shape. It's because I've never messed with any of that stuff.
