Getting my hair done soon...highlight ideas?

I have a dark brown hair color and I really want to make it lighter for spring/summer. I'm thinking highlights (caramel or honey blonde), but I really don't want them to look fake. I was thinking of doing my whole head a light brown color but I don't want the roots to look bad when they grow in. Any suggestions?


If I get highlights, do I ask for full head or partial?

I prefer the second one. I guess she has more than one kind of highlights in her hair. Did you want to say that you first want to dye your hair lightbrown and then put highlights in it? That would be too much extra work after that. Try rather putting 2 colors of highlights like in the second pic.
