How much does it cost to get highlights done in your hair professionally?

At a medium grade salon like the ones at the mall or w/eHow much does it cost to get highlights done in your hair professionally?
I work at Trade Secret. It's 70 dollars for a cap, and 100 for foils. Honestly, get a good highlighting kit, but dont use the applicator, only apply 10-15 highlights around your hairline, the size of them should be no bigger than a piece of spagetti. Same results, sooo much cheaper.How much does it cost to get highlights done in your hair professionally?
If you're planning on getting a cut done as well, it usually averages about $130 CD here in the regular salons. If you're lucky you can get it done for $100 but it's hard to find and usually not the best job either.


Honestly though? Your best bet is to find a salon who runs out of their basement. They'll usually be cheaper and take more time with their clients as they're not as busy. See if you can find a friend to recommend one and see how long they've been in the business for. I was lucky and found one who'd been in the business for 20 years and used to compete in the professional shows.
It really depends on where you live. But if your looking to save money I would recommend a beauty college. And if your nervous about a student not knowing what their doing always ask for a senior. They are as experienced as someone at Fantastic Sams or one of those other hair cutting chains. Make sure when you get highlights to ask any questions that you might have and always use professional stying products. The outcome is always better.
