How do you do chunky highlights in curly hair at home?

I have crazy curly hair, and I was told not to use a cap, but foil it. I cant go to a salon, so I want some advice on how to do it at home. I have the dye and a friend who'll help, so anything you can tell me would be great, thanks! How do you do chunky highlights in curly hair at home?
a cap would be good but take a really long tim ein your hair i would do the brush on highlights they come with a brush to apply it only on the places you want the highlights the only problem with this is you have to divide it right make sure you put them on evenly i like the herbal essances one in the caramel shade....How do you do chunky highlights in curly hair at home?
Oh my god don't touch that cap!

You could start by just doing a top section of your hair.

Section off a rectangle shape on the top of your hair, going from the front to just past where your hair starts at the back of your head(where u wud have a high ponytail). This section shouldn't be no more wider than the length of your tailcomb.

Starting at the back, get your friend to stand behind you, and with the tailcomb, your friend should slide the tail to section off an approx 1 cm thick line of hair. Clip the rectangle section bk together and using the tailcomb, weave in and out the 1cm section. These wil be the highlighted hairs. Place the foil under the bits of hair you've weaved, close to the roots as you can, and using the colour or bleach, paint a layer on, not too thick or it can bleed out the foil! Close the foil and weave another 1cm section, and do the same,do this process all the way til you get to the front of the rectangle section, at the front of the head.
