Highlights do not compare to full hair die. Highlights are the smallest fraction of hair die. It is really nothing to fret about. If your mother is actually this concerned tell her that using a thick, creamy moisturizing shampoo will make everything normal. I recommend Herbal Essences Hello Hydration shampoo and conditioner. Another thing that may help is to not blowdry/straighten/curl more than 3 times a week and to use a deep conditioning treatment every 2 weeks. It really is nothing. How can i avoid hair damage when i get highlights?
You really can't.
As soon as that bleach hits your head the damage is done. I'm going to assume (based on this question) that you have virgin hair, so the damage really won't be monumental crazy breakage. In fact, you probably won't even be able to feel a difference.
Just switch to a shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair, don't ';touch-up'; too often, and don't stray too far from your natural color (blonde highlights don't look good in black hair anyway).
For any kind of damaged hair repair, whether it's dry due to lack of moisture from coloring or just because try this....
Egg yolks-whipped
1/4 cup of olive oil
Mix it together and put it on your hair twice a week. I'll warn you that it stinks and it's runny and messy. Buy a shower cap and keep it on your hair for an hour, then get in the shower to wash it out. The egg will have dried in your hair by then but it's ok.
The purpose of this is that it's all protein which is GREAT for your hair. No chemicals, no crazy expensive herbs and crap, just regular cabinet and fridge stuff.
Hope this helps!
You can't get highlights without getting hair damage.
But it less damaging when you highlights with hair dye instead of bleach.
That is how I get my highlights and its not extremely damaging.
:]
use African american shampoo/conditioners. If you too heavy for your hair then something lighter but some type of conditioner is needed.
you cant thats the only problem. but eventually your natural hair will grow back all the way.
