Is there a way to lighten my hair without getting it professionally highlighted?

My hair is brown, although two hairdressers have told me it's medium blonde, in case that makes a difference.Is there a way to lighten my hair without getting it professionally highlighted?

Have you ever herd of a frosting cap? You can buy it at target in the hair dying section it comes w/ a color that you can die it/ That would work but only lighten the hair around your face since your hair ismedium blonde making it all blonde more prolly won't go w/ your skin tone. If you go to Sally's or a store like that they probably have stuff kinda like the salons that will damage your hair much less than box crap. I'd suggest that. I used a couple boxes of stuff and nearly fried my hair off, and it was an ugly orange-blonde when i got done. I don't suggest doing that.
Blowdry your hair. It brings out the orignal color in your hair, and also use lemon juice. If you are out in the sun a lot, you hair will get lighter.
Use boxed dye once a month, each month getting a shade lighter.
put a few spoons of lemon juice into your shampoo and stay out in the sun alot. This should work ;]
